#Redskins Free-Agency Preview!

Running a professional football team truly has no off-season, as all aspects of team management and development are in a constant state of activity.  So, in respect to that, here is a preview of the expected free-agency moves for the Redskins this off-season:

Likely Re-Signing Keepers:
Fred Davis*
Kory Lichtensteiger*
Tyler Polumbus
Lorenzo Alexander*
Rob Jackson
Chris Baker
Sav Rocca

Fred Davis, Lorenzon Alexander, and Kory Lichtensteiger are must re-signs, that should be generally cap-friendly.  Besides Rocca, who even at his age is at the top of his game, the others would likely be resigned to compete with the coming draft class and free-agent class.  Rob Jackson my have earned a spot with his play this year, as well.

Likely to Not Be Re-Signed:
Chris Cooley, Rex Grossman, Jordan Black, Chris Wilson, Kedric Golston, Cedric Griffin, David Jones, Madue Williams

Well, you just can't keep them all and build a stronger roster...I would be surprised to see any of these faces returning, besides maybe Kedric Golston.

Potential Signings:

Offense:

Reggie Bush - I know, I know....we are good at RB right now, but if the value is there, we know this guys is a play-maker....but like you, I would rather Shanny take a shot at another late rounder instead.

Dwayne Bowe - Though I think we proved decent at WR this year, when Garcon was ailing so was our passing game, so obviously we have some need for a reliable possesion WR...not entirely convinced Bowe can be that guy, but may be the best free agency has to offer

Josh Cribbs - Though I do not feel this guy is a starting caliber WR, he would provide return depth and play-making skills off the bench at a value price.

Jared Cook - If Fred Davis tests free agency, Cook would be a solid target for the type of offense we run.

Brandon Albert - The offensive line held up well for the Redskins this year, but there is no doubt there is room for improvement.  Albert is the best interior lineman in free agency.

Jake Long, Ryan Klady - These two great tackles expected to hit free agency, and though we are straight at LT, we could use help at RT, just not sure we would be able to find the cap space for either of these guys, but if we did, either would be THE perfect addition.

Defense:

Glen Dorsey - Tagged as an unhealthy, underachiever, Dorsey has versatility that would be nice for depth with the style 3-4 Haslett runs.  Dorsey needs a place to showcase skills and not demand him to play every snap...could be a good fit.

Anthony Spencer - Much like Bowen, Spencer could walk in and contribute right away.  I would expect more draft attention to LB this year, but Spencer could be an option as well.

Connor Barwin - Pretty decent weakside LB for a 3-4...now, we have a starter, so it seems a long shot, but if the price is right....

Brian Urlacher - Ok, I know we already have an elder legend at MLB that is playing at a higher level than Urlacher, but it is Urlacher...I think the Bears keep him, but I had to mention the chances of Fletcher and Urlacher sharing the middle of the Redskins Defense.

Brent Grimes - Injury will drive his price down, but when healthy, would make a nice CB in our 3-4.

Aquib Talib - The Patriots my keep this guy around, but his connection to DB coach Rahem Morris makes me think he will at least visit to help his contract talks.  If talks break down with the Patriots, his next stop will be DC.

Dashon Gholson, Jarius Byrd - Both are healthy, proven safeties in the NFL and either would work nice in our scheme.

Louis Delmas, Kenny Phillips - Neither is the healthiest option at Safety...but that has never stopped us before.

Did you notice....NO FREE AGENT QB's EXPECTED!!!  Ok...gotta blow this one open with the gut call of the off-season....Vick to Redskins.  I know...I KNOW....you are yelling at the computer right now, "NNNOOOOOO!!!!" but, imagine having a capable, veteran back-up of a similar player type...the innovator of the mobile QB in our generation.  With Griffin's knee ailing, a vet with skills similar to Griffin does not come around often...just saying...

Hail to the Redskins!
