Redskins Struggle...Is There Hope?

I think Jay Gruden's most recent "Monday face" says it all.  Here we are again, Redskins fans, mid-October with yet another struggling team, looking to find themselves in a league full of seemingly better managed football teams.

Needless to say, Redskins fans are almost growing accustom to disappointment.  On Twitter, the word "Welp" dominated Redskins fans messages about the teams performance against the Arizona Cardinals.  Even the team's own Twitter account used "Welp" in describing yet another interception by Kirk Cousins.  At a record of 1-5, disappointment is rampant in Redskins Nation.

Like most NFL teams, the Redskins have no lack of talent.  They do seem guilty of not having that talent spread-out well, which is likely a result of the coaching turnovers and management changes over the past 5 years then just bad personnel decisions, though, we have had more than our fair share of those, as well.   The fact that trades seem to be a thing of the past has not helped the Redskins find talent.  Lack of draft picks (traded for RG3) and the recent unfair salary cap penalty also dealt damage to an already struggling franchise.  Using the Franchise Tag on Brian Orakpo seemed a "no-brainer" during the off-season, but now seems to have cost them valuable cap space they could have used to attract much needed help on the offensive line.

I could go on and on...
...but the fact is, this is rookie NFL head coach, in his first year, who was asked (force, I suspect) to work with pieces of the previous staff, only injecting a few of his own guys...coming into a franchise with few draft picks, no money, and big holes to fill.

What did we really expect?

Fans always expect winning.

So, is there hope?

YES!  Until statistically OUT of the playoffs, there is always a chance.  We have a very, very dynamic offense and a capable defense...things could turn around...after all, the margin for error in the NFL is tiny.  We will also have some 1pm Sunday games, which we always seemed to fair better in.  Even IF the season continues to spiral, have faith and support our guys...they work hard, even when they lose.  It takes time to build a winning franchise.  At least almost every draft pick counted last year...I am expecting that trend to continue.

Hail to the Redskins!
