You may have noticed I did not post a review of last weeks game...it was from frustration, to say the least...though, I have recovered some.
Most fans were beyond frustrated, after soaring expectations where pulled back down to earth. Over the past two games, the Redskins have had the 2nd worst defense in NFL history. Both fans and foes know we should be playing better than that. The offense has shown flashes and should be stable enough, as RG3 settles down and heals up, but we need to get back to running the ball.
So, what DO we have going for us and what do we do with it?
Our defense may have some new faces, but the core elements have been in place for almost 3 seasons and are a collection of seasoned and proven veterans...they will just have to play better.
I think a bit more stable play from our safeties would help our DB to perform, but that has been the case in DC for a long time.
We have great pass rushers...let's use them. If the secondary settles down, it should help our pass rush.
Our safeties have the ability to cover the TE position, as they did in preseason...we need to see that in the regular season.
We still have some great running backs and (what should be) a lethal running game, including RG3...time to lean on it and keep our defense off the field some.
How do we stop the Lions Offense?
Press Coverage + Blitz = Sacks + Picks -- Stuff/knock their WRs off rhythm while we blitz.
Defend the screen game. The Lions run a LOT of screens...if they keep burning us there it will be a long game.
Double cover Megatron in Dime/Nickle/Prevent Defense...make them force the ball to him.
Play our game. What is our game...tune into the last 4 Redskins games of last year...do THAT NOW, win Championships.
Boom.
Hail to the Redskins!
