Trade Deadline - The trade deadline comes and goes with only one notable transaction, with the Bucs sending a 2013 7th round draft pick and Aqib Talib to the Patriots in exchange for a 2013 4th round draft pick. The Patriots front office and coaching staff has a way of salvaging players with troubled backgrounds...and Talib has no shortage of trouble and boat-loads of talent. In some ways, I had hoped he would because a value-priced free agent this spring. Due to his connection to Raheem Morris, Talib was rumored early in the season as a potential trade target of the Redskins. Personally, I like keeping our draft picks. This Redskins staff has shown they know how to pick players...the more picks, the better. Let the Patriots gamble.
Look Great, Feel Great, Play Great! The Redskins will be debuting their much anticipated throwback uniforms, modeled after the 1937 uniforms. These uniforms look great... http://www.washingtontimes.com/multimedia/image/su12_at_nfl-uniform_front_redskins_altjpg_734808/
Hopefully we get the same results that the Steelers did last week. We will be dressed for success...let's see if it translates to a Win.
D. Hall Judgement - No suspension for D. Hall for his hissy-fit, foul and ejection last Sunday. Reports are that he will face a fine, though. Smart thing to do would be to pay the fine and just get back to playing football, but who knows. Hall claims he was verbally assaulted by the Ref and that Refs should be held to the same personal conduct standards as players. Replays of the argument show only the Refs back, but an earlier event in the game has a linesman cursing at Shanny to return to the box...not cool. I think there is an issue here, but now is not the time to fight, it is time to play football. Enough attention has been brought to player and Ref conduct...big brother is watching. Like him or not, Hall is our best DB and needs to focused on his play, not Ref conduct.
Injury Update - Merriweather was limited some this week, but is not expected to play until after the bye week. Garcon is still out. LB Perry Riley was limited at practice this week, will be questionable for Sunday's game, but I think he will be active. We are getting close to healthy, minus our IR guys. Good news for the late season push we need to survive in the NFC East.
Washington...Pigskins? In an idiotic attempt to attract publicity, the Washington City Paper, perhaps the most obscure and unread paper in the DC area, has announced it will no longer refer to our team as the "Redskins"...replacing it with the "Pigskins", the winner of some voting process. My only response to this newspaper is...(in my best John Wayne)..."Ya bunch of Pansies!"
Hail to the Redskins!
