Weekly #2 - 10/31/2012

Halloween Edition!  To stay true to our holiday, I want to talk about the scary things going on with our Redskins.  Don't worry, no bad ju ju talk, but the things that none of us look forward too, as fans.

London Fletcher - Lots of Twitter buzz about his play this year...health issues and lack of big plays.  I personally think the guys is playing at an extremely high level, but once you play like a "legand", being "great" is not so "great".  Bet he finishes the season strong.  There was no question about the need for him to stay here in Washington...and he is as needed and as valuable as ever in my eyes.

D. Hall - I would love to see more of a "team-player" attitude at times.  His jawing gets in the heads of opposing WR, but can cause a reaction that can lead to personal fouls, missed calls, and just lack of respect for the game.  He is still playing at a high level.  I think he has really improved in tackling.  This is another guy that I hope finishes the season strong, but he does seem to be frustrated.  Next year DB will be the target for many changes...and with Hall's cap hit so high....

That Secondary - Will our guys ever be healthy all at once?  No doubt, we will make some personnel changes here that I hope include some of our younger players, but I am sure will attract attention from FA or the draft.  No doubt, a FS or SS needs to be squired, whether by FA or draft.

LB Corp - I like our guys.  I do think we will see a few new faces added into the mix...but no major changes needed...maybe a situation pass-rusher or MLB.

Coaching Changes - About this time of year people start calling for the job of whom-ever they think the fall-guy should be.  Haz and Morris have been on most of the Twitter-feeds as potential targets.  I think Haz has struggled because he wants to run his system but has not had all the tools healthy or on the roster to execute it.  I think Morris is pretty popular to players, but his secondary has performed pretty poorly at times.  I see no changes coming this year, and honestly, I hope they stick around next year....these coaches need some time to find their guys.

...and to go DEEPER into the Macabre...NEXT YEAR...(insert Dracula laugh here)

There are several factors that will affect the course of next year...and I dare not touch on all of them....but here goes it on a a few of them.  I do not think it is really fair to the current players to talk about who is leaving...but no doubt some changes are coming.

Many faces my stay...many may go.  I think most our O-line and D-line stay intact.  WR, RB, and QB should stay pretty much the same.

Cap-friendly contract and FA moves will be the quickest to happen.

The WR corp will continue to evolve into the weapons RG3 needs.  Few may come, few may go...no doubt, coaches will be looking to improve at this position, but no complete over-haul.

TE is a huge wild card, with Fred Davis going down with a serious injury.  Whoever steps up in his absence will most likely be earning a decent paycheck next year.

We will need help at LB, FS, SS, DB....we have guys that will be stepping up and developing, but I would expect talent injected into these positions in the off-season.

I expect the Redskins to lay-low again in FA, shop the draft and post draft, and only signing cap-friendly guys...might reach for a DB...but cap room will be much like last year, kinda tight.

I hope for one main thing from this years draft....draft the BEST GUY ON THE BOARD.  This team needs long & lasting talent...and drafting for need never gets you exactly what you need unless it is a high pick, which we do not have next year.  No problem in setting your board up with need in mind, but be willing to take the best guy, it is the safest pick.

One thing is for sure, we have one of the best behind center...nothing scary about that unless you are an opposing defense....then, BOO!
