This Sunday, the Redskins will face-off at home against the Panthers, in a show-down of two of the most dynamic QB's in the league.
Here is a breakdown of what to watch:
Cam Vs RGIII Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III are often compared to each other, due to each player's mobility, but are drastically different players at QB. Despite finishing strong last year, Newton has not found much success this year. Griffin has started his career with a HOF style pace, with his accuracy and ability to make plays with his feet. Griffin makes good decisions, both on and off the field. Newton has not performed well with the media and seems to sulk at times on the sidelines when things are not going well...not a great trait for your team leader. I think we will see much of the same for Griff this weekend. Redskins fans feel good about our Offense and great about our QB...let's hope our Defense holds enough for a win.
Establishing the Run The Redskins have to be careful and stick with what they have done very well, which is run the football. The Panthers have battled injuries again this year on defense and have allowed some rushing yards, so I would expect to see a healthy dose of Morris this Sunday and another great game for the Rookie RB. We have to be sure to stay out in front of this explosive Panther team so we can continue to use our running game and play OUR style game.
Corralling Cam Our defense gets to practice against RG3 every practice...we should be one of the best at keeping Cam in the pocket. We need to force him to make plays with his arm...force him to make mistakes...we do not want this guy running wild or building confidence.
Disrupt the Panthers Offense Redskins have to stay aggressive against the run, while holding our own against the pass. I am SURE they will test our defense over the top with Steve Smith...at the same time, Cam has shown he throws the slant just as well. We need to establish our pass rush, flush Newton out of the pocket...force him to pass on the move, something he does not do very well.
Play Consistent The Redskins offense and defense does NOT need to be flashy, use gadget plays, or try to re-invent the wheel here, we need to play safe, consistent football. Stay out in from of the Panthers...run the ball...don't turn the ball over...defend and tackle well against the run...get some pass rush...play with patience. Our defense has played LIGHTS OUT at times...and blind as a bat other times...I think if we can get our defense to settle down somewhere in the middle of that, our offense can help us win a bunch of games.
If things go as expected...I see the Redskins winning 30-14.
Smack Talking Time!
Cam Newton is an enormous whining baby....only bitches and babies pout. Maybe Kleenex will step up and sponsor you...might need some free tissues for all that crying.
Hey Ryan Kalil...how is that Superbowl guarantee working out for ya?
Hey Steve Smith, you were almost traded, but turns out you are only worth 189th rd pick.
Hey Panthers, no throw-backs? Oh, wait, you have no legacy or history.
The Panthers Stadium has the WORST food in the NFL...in the heart of BBQ country...no excuse.
...and I tell ya another thing about them Panthers...They STINK!
Hail to the Redskins!
