The Pulse #3 - 11/8/2012 - Bye-Week Edition.

DC has been buzzing this week....so here we go:

Shanny's post-game presser comments have been analyzed and reanalyzed.  His comments seemed to result from frustration from the team falling well short of expectation again this week.  Some commentators felt he was giving up.  Players defended him.  Most fans felt that he meant more that he plans on holding any slacking players responsible for their actions and play, regardless of record.  I think most fans were understanding up until the loss to the Panthers.  I found myself fighting cursing while writing about the game.  Fact of the matter is, this is a younger team still learning how to play together under unique schemes, blinding in the spotlight that is the NFL...growing pains will happen, I suppose, but regardless, it is time for players to step up or start looking for a new job.

Then, there was that whole Presidential Election thing.  Congratulations to President Obama for a decisive victory.

Joshua Morgan has really stepped up in recent weeks.  I think he will be a GREAT possession WR for the Redskins for years to come.  He had the break-down against St Louis and maybe a drop or two against the Steelers, but has played very well the last couple games and deserves some credit.  I have not felt like we were missing Garcon near as much, as of late.  Got to give credit where credit is due...and Morgan deserves some serious credit.

We have a few players on the mend that are expected to return to action after the bye.  Jamaal Brown was cleared by doctors.  The team will still need to figure out whether he takes back his spot at RT from Tyler Polumbus.  Brown still will need some time to get back into game shape.  Brown plays pretty aggressively  and, if healthy, should give our line a boost.  It is nice to see some depth at O-line coming back, though we have been lucky enough not to need to test it.  I would love to see some 6th O-lineman formation come into play from time to time.  Brandon Merriweather is expected back sometime after the bye-week and even had some limited practices last week.  I think he will bring a veteran, ball-magnet attitude to the FS position, though he will most likely take time to work into the line-up and get up to full speed.

Another potential DB hit the open market, when Stanford Routt was cut loose and cleared waivers from Kansas City.  He has some talent, but has not played well this year.  Word is that he has drawn interest from many teams.  I doubt the Redskins would get much of an upgrade from the 29 yo DB....so I would not expect him to land in DC....probably Miami.
