Just like most of the Redskins fans out there, I am excited for this season...excitement beyond words. At the same time, though, the fans and the Redskins organization have to be cautious about these Eagles. This will be a good game...no doubt.
Here are some points to be thinking about:
The Eagles offense contains some fast and explosive players.
Chip Kelly is all about tempo...how our defense adjusts and disrupts that tempo will be key. One great way to disrupt tempo is to play more physical...hit them hard and they get up slowly, if at all.
This will be a great test for our defense.
Despite some question on the Eagles offensive line, the offense is expected to move quick and plays to develop fast, which complicates opposing defensive pass rushes...key here, get those hands up! I hope to see some more "JJ Watt" style play out of Kerrigan.
Our reformed secondary will need to hold up against speedster Jackson. The Eagles will try him deep.
No body truly knows what to expect from Chip Kelly's NFL debut. This will force Haslett and the Redskins defense to make adjustment right away and throughout the game. How the Redskins defense adjusts may be the deciding factor for this game.
We need to establish the run...it is the glue that holds our offense together. If Morris has a good day, so do the Redskins.
Prediction:
Redskins 31 - Eagles 20
Like any fan, hope to see my team get out in front and bring it home...but I would not be surprised if the first half leaves us trailing until our defense settles down. I think our team, despite any tempo crap from Kelly, is just more physical and I doubt Jackson, McCoy or Vick can play 4 quarters of football if we get on them.
Hail to the Redskins!
