Smashing the Schm-Eagles! #Redskins vs #Eagles

Sunday has all the elements of a magical weekend for Redskins Nation!  Holiday celebrations, friends, family, and oh ho ho, a Sunday to remember.  The Redskins will face a grossly struggling Eagles team this weekend...if the Giants lose & Redskins win, the NFC East is ours.  Not only are fans more excited than I have seen in a decade, but this team is more deserving as well.  These guys worked through personnel changes, a rookie QB, a rookie RB, some pretty major injuries, and rebounding from a rough start....they deserve to win the NFC East.

The Redskins have to be careful, though, to not underestimate the Eagles, who still have a host of dynamic play makers and a decent pass rush.  I think playing reasonably conservative will work in our favor, if we get out in front early.  Apply pressure and the Eagles will make mistakes...period.

Griffin is expected to start this weekend, though I think if he even limps a little, they will sit him...again, staying conservative will most likely protect him some....but, this is yet another must-win game, no tip-toeing around that.  The offensive line, for the first time this year, has two potential starters that may not play...beings this is something that we have not dealt with this year, it bares watching for sure.  Right tackle Tyler Polumbus suffered a concussion in last weeks game...and as of Wednesday, was still not cleared for contact.  Center Will Montgomery, who is having a Pro-Bowl caliber year, tweaked or strained his knee...he did get some practice Tuesday, so I would expect him to get out there.  This does mean that more O-lineman may be active this weekend, including guard Maurice Hurt, who played very well in pre-season, and rookie Tom Compton, a raw, but good rookie prospect tackle.

So, in summary, what needs to happen for the Redskins to SMASH the Schm-Eagles???

Redskins need to:

Score early and pressure the Eagles into mistakes.

Play smart, conservative football.

Run the ball!

Use play-action and the option to keep the defense guessing.

Not give up the big play!

Pretty much, continue to do what they have been doing well.

Hail to the Redskins!
