Even if you are not a Redskins fan, it was a great football game.
I had a very interesting view of the game....I ate dinner at my parents, as my family usually does...but this year, the game started just before diner. Turns out, my mom would not allow the TV to be on during dinner....so a few minutes into the game, I shoveled my diner. I was forced to retreat to a 12" TV in the bedroom. I stood proudly, a foot away from that tiny TV, and watched the Redskins win another huge game.
So, what went right?
We ran the football well.
Receivers only had a couple drops....so they did a great job!
The deep ball looked pretty good...gotta kinda sneak it up on defenses though.
Griffin for President....I mean, here is nothing this man seems to not do well.
The "Meriweather" effect....ok, so Gomes played ok, but not great....but the rest of that secondary had a great game.
We have a KICKER!
What went wrong?
Saw #97 Alexander end up out in coverage...and though his pass rushes and ST play is good, he gets burnt almost every time he gets caught in coverage.
There were a few poor tackles.
When you are up by 20 something, I think it is safe to RUN THE BALL! I do not want to ruin momentum or become too predictable, but burn that clock when your up, try to stay away from risky passes across the middle into coverage. RG3's pick should have never happen.
Our pass rush was still improved over the beginning of the season, but we need to mix up more inside and outside blitz...we always seem to come from the edge.
We made a hard attempt to disguise coverage...and I don't think we had them guessing in the 4th quarter....it would probably be helpful to hold a little something back for the fourth quarter to surprise offenses.
It was a great win, but we let them get too close....and a better football team may have came back and won....when we have them down, please kick them and keep them down.
All in all, we saw some inspired football and at just the right time in the season....got a few more games to prove to the world that this team is for real...but I am confident we will continue to turn heads.
Hail to the Redskins!
