Game Preview - Redskins vs Eagles

This Sunday, the Redskins face a MUST WIN game against the battered division foe Eagles a midst a hopeful, but disappointing season.  Despite a record of 3-6, including several close and "should-have-won" games (oh, and that horrid Steelers game), the Redskins still have a chance at starting a run for the post-season, which includes 5 "must win" NFC East games (including the Eagles this Sunday).

The Redskins are expecting Brandon Meriweather to make his season debut with the Redskins Sunday.  The hope is that he will inject some energy, hard-hitting, and natural ball-hawking skills in a secondary that has been a real roller-coast ride this season.  Having stability at the FS position could lead to much more consistent play out of the Redskins secondary.  Almost everyone else, not on IR, is expected to be available, beside Jamaal Brown, who has practiced but not activated, though may have had a set back Thursday.  Shockingly, Pierre Garcon looks to be just about ready to test his foot injury, and could very well be active Sunday.  He has practiced, though limited...but I would dare to say that he will probably play Sunday, given there are no set-backs.

The Eagles have had plenty of injuries on offense, having five O-lineman on IR.  Just last week, they lost Mike Vick and Herreman, perhaps the best remaining O-lineman.  Nick Foles will get the start at QB.  The Eagles D has played well, though they share the same record of 3-6 with the Redskins.

Fact is, the Redskins and Eagles are in a very similar situation, needing more consistency on one side of the ball...Redskins needing a more consistent Defense...the Eagles needing more consistent Offense...both fighting for a shot at the playoffs.  The Eagles happen to be on an even longer loss streak than the Redskins, not winning since September.

So, what do Redskins fans need to see our team do Sunday?

Establish the Run!  This Redskins team can run the ball very well, but mistakes elsewhere have led the Redskins offense away from the run in many games.  If we are still able to run the ball in the 4th quarter than things will turn out much better.

Defend the Run!  Fans better expect to see a healthy dose of LeSean McCoy...and this guy is good.  His blocking is not doing him many favors, so the Redskins have the advantage there.  Expect the Redskins D to spread out and squeeze the Eagles rushing game...I am sure McCoy will get some runs but hopefully we can hold to a modest game.

Pressure Foles!  The Redskins have not fared well, as of late, against rookie QB's...actually they have lost to the last 8 in a row...but, those 8 rookies did not play behind an O-line nearly as depleted as the Eagles are currently...so, Redskins, take advantage of that!  Let's blitz this guy!  Spread out, gap blitz, and make this guy hurry passes...which leads to the next thing we need to see the Redskins do Sunday...

Win the Turnover Battle!  On both sides of the ball, we need to win the turnover battle.  We are facing a rookie QB behind a rag-tag O-line...let's get to him and force mistakes.  Our offense needs to play smart, protect the football, and....

Be Consistent!  Our offense has the ability to be among the most dynamic in the NFL, but has not shown enough consistency...the defense has been very similar...holds well for a while and breaks at what seams to be the worst time.  Both sides of the ball need to play a consistent game for 4 quarters.

Do most of THAT and we win...

Redskins 37
Eagles 13

Smack Talking Time!

Name 2 starters on that Eagles O line this Sunday?  Yeah, I couldn't either.

Where I came from, if they called you "Shady", it meant you were trash ass sketchy sucker...just saying.

That Mike Vick...wait, don't have to worry about him, he couldn't make it out of the game game against the trashy Cowboys...and Foles is NO NFL starter (yet) or he would have been a 1st round pick.

Quite a few guys on that Eagles secondary were straight cut by other teams, so this spring when they get cut again they will know just how to handle that.

Eagles fans look forward to away games because they play their home games in an over-sized toilet.

Dream Team....BBBBBHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....still get's me.

Hail to the Redskins!
