Boxing Legend Lost
I would like to take a break from our Redskins for just a moment to recognize the loss of a man who help craft and shape the careers of some of the greatest athletes of our generation, Emanuel Steward. The boxing worlds lost the God-Father of Detroit boxing today at age 68 after complications with diverticulitis, a digestive disorder. If you are any kind of boxing fan, you owe this man for some of the best boxing the last 30 years have had to offer. He climbed his way off the streets and helped many young boxers do just the same thing. He trained some of the most recognizable fighters in pro boxing, including Thomas Hearns, Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Wladamir Klitschko, Julio Cesar Chavez, Miguel Cotto, and Kermit Citron to name just a few. Steward is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame. Condolences to his many friends, family and people whom he has had such a positive impact on. Sad day in the boxing world...a legend was lost today.
