Despite a recharged fan base, the return of London Fletcher, a healthy Orakpo, traveling away for training camp, a successful pre-season, the return on phenom QB RG3, two healthy running backs, a pretty good rookie class, and a fairly healthy group of players, the Redskins are off to an uncomprehendingly bad start. To say Redskins fans are "disappointed" would be the understatement of the century. Flabbergasted, bewildered, and distraught seem to be more accurate.
This years team is noticeably more talented, a year more experienced, and making more plays then last years squad...so why aren't they winning?
Instead of this football team being a well-oiled machine that can still start and drive despite some minor issues, this team is a chain, destine to break at it's weakest link when put under pressure, as we did Sunday night against the Cowboys. The Redskins have had more then their share of weak links this season....rusty bad-mechanics RG3, rookies in the secondary, hoards of penalties, inconsistent defensive line play, the worst special teams in the NFL, poor play design/calling, not-so-rusty-but-faster-yet-still-inaccurate RG3....which ever "weak link" shows up on game day, the talent and coaching that makes up this team is unable to overcome it. By design, organization, and personnel, this team is failing. Changes have to happen that just may not be possible until the get past this unfair salary cap penalty. The lack of veteran leadership is really taking it's toll on this team.
I felt that coming out of the bye week against the Cowboys would be the perfect scenario to start turning around the season...obviously, the issues with the Redskins go further than a few extra days of rest and practice can fix.
Hold on fans....it is going to be a bumpy ride this season!
Hail to the Redskins!
