Game Preview - #Redskins vs #Packers

Last week was rough for Redskins fans and players.  Like any player coming off an injury or extended break, RG3 was rusty.  There were many other issues too that all seemed to settle down some towards the end of the Eagles game.

So, what should we expect this Sunday versus the Packers?

  • Establishing The Run!  We need to get Morris going early without becoming predictable.  Look for us to start pass-heavy, aiding the run, and building the play-action, something that we didn't accomplish last week, thus never getting into our real game plan.
  • Stifle The Packers Offense!  I think it is absurd to think that the Packers, lead by Aaron Rodgers and rookie RB Eddie Lacy, will not get some first downs.  We need to focus on stopping drives.  Our pass rush may have success as long as we bottle up the run early.
  • Attack The Packers Secondary - The Packers defense is strong up front and weak in the secondary, we have to make them look worse.
  • Get Turnovers!  One turnover or big play will likely define this game.
  • Play Smart, Protect The Ball!  We can not have more costly fumbles and interceptions and expect to beat the Packers.  We also need smarter return play and decisions out of Thompson.
  • Take Advantage When Possible - Seems a basic instinct, but to do so, we must execute.  Score points on every drive...make field goals...do not throw away opportunities.

This will likely be an action packed game.  I expect to see our offense much sharper from the first snap.  I would expect early passes from the heavy sets....maybe involving Jordan Reed and Fred Davis....and those some formations will hopefully yield some big runs towards the second and third quarter.  If we execute, this is a very win-able game.

Hail to the Redskins!
