Redskins faced division foe NY Giants this week and though we came out of it without Fred Davis or the Win, the loss seems to be serving as a reminder of how close the Washington Redskins are to being THE team to beat in the NFC East. The offense continued a steady pace, moving the ball on the ground and in the air pretty well. RG3 threw his 3rd pick of the year, but in an effort to make a play when there was little play to be made...rookie mistake. RB Alred Morris was beast...again...and is pushing to be the best of this years rookie class (thanks Shanny, that eye is not failing ya). Do not be mad at Safety Madue Williams...he got caught "bracketing" or defending the slant, either way, he did play solid ball most of the game...and if he has a little more speed, he would be an elite guy. Fans across Twitter were both angry and shocked of how close we came to really beating up on the SB Champ Giants. I was not shocked we did well. As a matter of fact, I believed that the defense played way better the last couple weeks than I or anyone expected...I was just sure it would take scoring 35+ points to beat them and 28 would have won it.
It turned out to be another heartbreaking loss for fans, but only because we were so close.
Fact of the matter is...
IF...
Santana protected that ball on the final drive and we would have scored....we would have won.
IF...
Safety M. Williams had not gotten burnt to a crisp on that deep pass to Cruz...we would have won.
IF...
We would have scored in the Red-Zone just one more time...we would have won.
Not to even mention the motion penalty that took away a TD.
Close may only count in horseshoes and hand-grenades, but fellow fans, we can ALL HAVE HOPE!
We found a great RB in late round gem Alfred Morris. We have something truly special in RG3. Our front office is doing a great job, but these things take time. Fans seem to be patient.
The Future is Bright. Hail to the Redskins...Hail to Victory (in time).
I know I join many, many Redskins fans in saying I hate for our team to lose Fred Davis for the year.
I know I join many, many of those same fans in welcoming back Chris Cooley! Sometimes a good thing comes out of a bad thing...this is hopefully one of those instances.
