The Morning After...

Redskins Nation is reeling from another loss, this one a stomping by the hands the Steelers.  I think we all know if the drops didn't happen, we would have had a very close game again.  Perhaps a few more catches would have allowed our running game to keep grinding.  It looked like the option was going to work early, but the Steelers D did seem to have the most effective answer for it yet.  Still not sure what it was, but something about the way we read the defense changed our option offense.  Needless to say, it was hard to watch at times, for probably the first time this year.

Also, for the first time this year, Griff was a bit off his game...having several off-target passes.  So, we should not blame our WR....Teams Win and Teams Lose.

I have to admit, the extra point was my fault.  I noticed, in fact, I did not have my label facing forward during the extra point kick.  I got that corrected for our field goals though.  Sorry for the lack of concentration.

I had hoped dearly that the "game socks" tradition I started this year would translate in wins, but I guess the socks were just not wild enough.  I plan on working on that this week.

Despite our record, though, we have a lot of season left.  The NFC East is up for grabs as long as the Giants do not make a solid run from here.  We did not have any major injuries Sunday...and every fan could still feel how close we were.  Just have to keep working on perfecting our craft.

Here is what I think needs improvement...

PASS RUSH!  Not sure why, but no real pass rush.  Our front 3 worked hard but either scheme, or doubles...something eliminated our pass rush, for the most part.

STAY IN OUR GAME!  Our offense was all over the place.  We got away from the run....lost traction with the option, and lacked concentration.

SPECIAL TEAMS!  Missed extra point and 12 yard punts should not happen in the NFL.

TEAM PLAY!  This was evident in poor corrections on mismatches on defense....like Alexander in coverage on Heath Miller.  Also D. Hall was not thinking about his team with his actions at the end of the game...like him or not, he is the best we have and if he loses time because of his jawing, our secondary will be even more depleted...no excuse.  Discipline!

PLAY CALLING!  Both sides of the ball had weird play calls.  I know our offense is exotic, but trick plays in the middle of a successful drive is just not necessary.  The defense, at times, seemed mismatched, out of position, and caught off guard...Haz is taking heat from most fans...this one just wants our Defense to...

STICK TO BASICS.  Cover 0 is trash...though we did a better job jamming off the line, coverage was still soft out there, and the Steelers schemed right into it and had success.  WR have to catch the ball.  That many drops should never happen.  Missed a bunch of tackles yesterday...to many yards after the catch were allowed.

We are a giant work in progress...we need patience and hope.

The Future is Bright...just not there yet.

Hail to the Redskins
